making faces
This was my very first project at the Royal College of Art. The week-long project had a brief of ‘Create an image of yourself’, so I did exactly that, in my own way.
With the help of CAD to develop proportions, the piece consisted of using layered slices of greyboard to build an outline in random cutout sections.
when you look from the vanishing point, the silhouette appears.
The slices were simply held together with two sheets of foamboard, that used slots at specific distances to help maintain a uniform construction. Ultimately, each slice would build up to creating an outline of my face on the black canvas behind the slices.
